The 20 Best Companies for Working Moms, As Rated by the Women Who Work There (2019)

Eighty percent of mothers with children aged six to 18 and 70 percent of mothers with children under the age of six also do paid work full-time, yet the American workplace remains largely unfriendly to the working mom. Working mothers are less likely to be promoted and get raises, and are more likely to be judged by their colleagues as being less committed to their jobs—and their families. For working fathers, the opposite is true.

To better understand workplaces that support the wants and needs of working mothers, we sampled our dataset to understand what working mothers want from their employers and identified the companies that over-index for those factors, as ranked by working women.

The companies on our list rank highest for the top five things working mothers want most from their employers:

Methodology

Companies eligible for our list were those with ratings from at least 30 current or former employees and rank mostly highly for the following factors: paid time off, flexible work hours, the people you work with, equal opportunities for women and men, and the ability to telecommute. Company ratings accurate as of May 3, 2019.
