Social media often gets a bad rap for fostering feelings of isolation, competition, and comparison. But there’s another, much warmer side to the digital world, one rooted in connection and support.

As humans, we crave belonging, and we want to feel like we aren’t the only ones on this roller coaster called life. Women especially tend to seek spaces where we can find inspiration, learn from one another, laugh at ourselves, and feel seen. And according to our audience, Instagram remains one of the most powerful platforms for building these intimate connections.

A recent InHerSight.com poll found that a plurality of women (33 percent) feel more connected to other women via Instagram than on any other social media platform, and I couldn’t agree more.

Personally, I’ve seen how Instagram fosters empowerment, self-expression, and genuine connection. For me, scrolling through Instagram isn’t just a pastime; it’s a space for comfort, inspiration, and community-building. Whether I’m looking for fitness tips, a relatable mental health post, or a good book recommendation, it’s all there and it feels like some of the women I follow are speaking directly to me. Throw in all of the “friends” in the comments, and you’ve found your extended group chat.

So, I’ve rounded up 11 Instagram accounts that create spaces where women can feel cozy, connected, and inspired. These are my go-to accounts when I need a pick-me-up, some advice, or just a moment to feel like I’m part of something bigger. From fitness enthusiasts to mental health advocates, book lovers, and parenting guides, these accounts truly embody the beauty of digital sisterhood.

Fitness

Let’s be honest: at the start of a new year, most of us are looking to get healthier. I’ve been there, sometimes feeling motivated, sometimes starting over for the hundredth time as I promised myself that ‘this is the year these extra pounds will disappear!’ That’s why I love fitness influencers who offer accessible, judgment-free advice, and meal ideas.

1. @AdrieneLouise

If you’re not already following Adriene Mishler, you’re missing out. Her Yoga with Adriene brand has become a sanctuary for me and millions of others. What I love most about Adriene is her warm, down-to-earth personality; it feels like she’s an old friend guiding you through yoga, even if you’ve never met her. Her Instagram is full of encouragement and practices for every body and mind, making self-care through yoga feel approachable. Adriene reminds us that it’s not about being perfect, it’s about showing up for ourselves, no matter where we are in our fitness journey. She literally has a yoga pose or meditation for whatever you are dealing with at the moment. Plus, if you love dogs, the pics of her co-star Benji will melt your heart.

2. @GrowWithJo

Johanna Devries and her GrowwithJo account is my go-to when I need fun, simple fitness ideas that don’t feel overwhelming. Her walking and dance workouts make movement accessible— I feel like I’m dancing on stage with Beyonce—and her positivity is contagious. What resonates with me is her story of starting over and how she reminds us that showing up and staying consistent is half the battle. Jo’s messages are motivating in a way that feels personalized, and her supportive GrowwithJo community is an added bonus. You don’t have to be a fitness expert to enjoy her content, just show up for yourself and be consistent. As a mother of two with another on the way, she is very transparent about her fitness journey during pregnancy and after. The cherry on top is when she throws in some healthy recipes to help you trade in those milkshakes for chia seed pudding.

Mental health

Mental health has been a huge topic on Instagram lately, and for good reason. Women are being more transparent about their struggles, which makes me feel less alone in mine.

3. @alex_elle

Alex Elle’s page feels like a big, comforting hug that reminds you of your value and worth. She’s a bestselling author and wellness advocate, and her affirmations always seem to come at the right time. Her quotes and gentle reminders always strike a chord with me. They have been a game-changer as I navigate being newly single, helping me to forgive and allow myself grace.  Alex’s posts create a peaceful space for reflection and healing. She’s a gentle reminder that self-love isn’t about perfection, it’s about progress and embracing the journey.

4. @the.holistic.psychologist

Dr. Nicole LePera’s posts often feel like they’re speaking directly to me. Her insights into childhood patterns and relationships have made me rethink how I approach certain aspects of my life including my career. Her approach focuses on healing through self-awareness and compassion, and she encourages followers to dig deeper into their behaviors and beliefs. Her community-focused approach is another highlight. I often find myself reading the comments and realizing how many of us share the same experiences. Dr. LePera’s content is a constant reminder to take responsibility for our own emotional well-being.

5. @nedratawwab

Relationship and boundaries expert, and therapist, Nedra Glover Tawwab has helped me in ways I didn’t expect. Her posts on setting boundaries and breaking unhealthy cycles are practical and empowering. Whether it’s advice for dealing with work relationships or personal ones, her straightforward style makes me feel like I can tackle anything. The best part? She provides actionable steps to improve emotional health, something I think we could all use. In a world that often emphasizes people-pleasing, Nedra’s focus on healthy boundaries is exactly what we need.

Books

I’m a self-proclaimed bookworm and always on the hunt for a good read, so Instagram accounts that celebrate literature have a special place in my heart.

6. @readwithkat

Kat’s reviews feel like they’re coming from a close friend who just gets my reading vibe. She highlights diverse authors and uplifting stories, which is exactly what I’m looking for when I need a good book to curl up with. I also love that she includes audiobooks for those that are on the go and don’t have time to read a physical copy. Kat’s authenticity shines through in her posts, and I appreciate how she champions underrepresented voices in literature. Her passion for reading is contagious; it’s impossible not to want to read everything she recommends.

7. @ameriesbookclub

Amerie’s book club is like a literary treasure chest. While I appreciate her R&B singing talents, I love her pivot into making reading cool again. She picks thought-provoking books by diverse authors and creates a space for meaningful discussions in the comments. Her enthusiasm is infectious; it’s hard not to feel inspired to pick up a new read after scrolling through her posts. I appreciate how she discusses books from a cultural perspective, which makes her recommendations even more enriching. She often goes live interviewing diverse authors. If you're looking for books that challenge your thinking and broaden your understanding, Amerie’s Book Club is a must-follow.

Travel

Traveling might not always be an option, but following these accounts makes me feel like I’m exploring the world from my couch and saving money. However, if travel is on your vision board for this year, you’ll want to take a look at these accounts to figure out those must visit places to add to your list.

8. @TheBucketlistFamily

This family’s adventures are nothing short of inspiring. I love how they balance practical travel tips with heartwarming stories, making family travel seem not just possible but exciting. They’ve made traveling with children seem easy, which is something I never thought I’d see. Their journey shows that travel isn’t just for singles or couples but families can experience the world in beautiful ways, too. Their page is a reminder that no matter where we are in life, there’s always room for exploration.

9. @travelwithtalia

Natalia Hasenkampf’s Instagram account is one of my favorites for wanderlust inspiration. Her detailed travel tips and cultural insights make me want to book a trip immediately, and she’s proof that women can travel confidently and go anywhere in the world and look fabulous. Her posts have taught me to look for authenticity in the places I visit, which makes traveling feel even more enriching. She has a way of making every location feel unique as if you are right there with her, and her stories encourage me to step outside of my comfort zone.

Parenting

Even though I’m not a parent, I admire how these parenting accounts create supportive spaces for moms and dads with some actionable advice, and hilarious moments with their children.

10. @tasha_hosang

Certified parenting coach and TED Talks speaker Tasha Ho-Sang’s posts blend humor, honesty, and practical advice. As a mother of three, Tasha’s posts shine a light on boundaries, spending one on one time with kids, and building trust with them. Her candid posts about conscious parenting and how to address certain situations with kids make me feel like she’s speaking directly to me, even though I’m not a mom yet. I’m also impressed she did a whole year without yelling at her kids. Someone give her a medal! Tasha’s authenticity makes her a refreshing presence in the parenting space. Also, her dancing videos are a reminder to carve some space for yourself and shake what your mama gave you.

11. @mamapsychologists

Caitlin Slavens & Chelsea Bodie are two psychologists who keep it real about parenting struggles. Their tips are practical and often make me think about how I’d handle similar situations. Their advice is also targeted to moms that are struggling with depression, anxiety, and burn out. Even as a non-parent, I find their advice about communication and emotional health incredibly valuable. They remind me that no one has it all figured out and that it’s okay to ask for help.

Instagram has become so much more than a place for pretty pictures. It’s a platform where women can come together, learn, and support one another. These accounts remind me that even in a digital space, we can create real connections and a sense of community. If you’re looking for inspiration, advice, or just a sense of belonging, I highly recommend giving these accounts a follow. Who knows? They might just become your favorite cozy corner of the internet, too.
